Body of Proof starring my beautiful wife Dana Delany.
Love Bites: Season 2, Episode 8. Brief appearance by Jason Brooks just like his appearance in Torchwood: Miracle Day: The Miracle Day which was his work immediately before this Body of Proof episode. Good mystery of a dead young woman and how it leads to Megan making a decision about Lacey at the end.

Gross Anatomy: Season 2, Episode 9. Title a variation on the book Gray’s Anatomy and the TV series Grey’s Anatomy. Guest stars Gregory Harrison and Dana Davis. The case is about a murdered young woman whose body turned up as a cadaver at a medical school. Not bad but it was quite obvious that the murderer was related to a suspect questioned by the cops earlier on.

Your Number’s Up: Season 2, Episode 10. Good double meaning for the episode title as it refers both to a man who won the lottery and this same man being killed because of the money. Quite a surprise on how this man met his end. Quite good life lessons Lacey learns whilst working for her mom Megan.

Falling For You: Season 2, Episode 11. Quite literal the episode title as it has a bride falling to her death. Quite good how the killer turned out to be someone no suspected in the first place. Don’t be really like the issue Lacey has here.

Shades of Blue: Season 2, Episode 12. This is not the first time that guest star Mark Rolston had guest starred in a series which featured Jeri Ryan as a regular as he was a guest star in the Shark episode The Wrath of Khan. Rolston was not the only guest star in this episode who was in another series with a Body of Proof regular. Playing Morris’ wife Jeannie was Deirdre Lovejoy and she and Sonja Sohn were both regulars on The Wire but they do not appear together in this Body of Proof episode. Good mystery about the murder of an undercover cop and amazing how Megan flushed the killer out.

Sympathy For The Devil: Season 2, Episode 13. Also the name of a Doctor Who audio story. Not bad episode regarding the death of a young woman who has just been released after being acquitted of killing her child with Rita Wilson sincere in her performance as the dead woman’s mother. Quite fun having Marcia Gay Harden as a sensationalist crime TV show presenter and it was so funny when Megan said to the Harden character on live television that the Harden character had become a suspect in the dead woman's murder. Megan’s mother Joan loses reelection as judge and this is somewhat akin to an experience that Body of Proof regular Jeri Ryan had when she was on Shark when her District Attorney character lost reelection. Joan is played by Joanna Cassidy and Joan must have had Megan very young as Joanna Cassidy is only 10 ½ years Dana’s junior. At 10 ½ years that is indeed a young age to be a mother!

Cold Blooded: Season 2, Episode 14. Similar in name to the Doctor Who episode Cold Blood. Guest stars Robert Picardo and he had worked with two Body of Proof regualrs as series regulars in other shows. He had worked with Dana Delany in China Beach and with Jeri Ryan in Star Trek: Voyager. While Picardo did have substantial screen time with Dana, he did not have any screen time with Jeri Ryan (I guess it wasn’t plausible for their characters to interact with each other). An enjoyable mystery about the dead body in the freezer (hence the episode’s name) as well as the aforementioned China Beach reunion and Picardo pretty good taking from us our sympathy with his character.
Coincidentally just as this episode is from the second season of Body of Proof, hours beforehand I finished China Beach’s own second season.

Occupational Hazards: Season 2, Episode 15. The opening scene feels like something out of Touch than anything of usual from Body of Proof. Makes me wonder whether the writer Corey Miller was writing for Touch or Body of Proof not that I am complaining. The dead man having lost his job the year before and not telling his wife about it is something I seen before elsewhere. Quite a shock with the skeleton in the wall. Too bad about Kate being demoted.

Home Invasion: Season 2, Episode 16. For its Australian broadcasts on Seven, this episode was sponsored by the new Batman movie The Dark Knight Rises and incidentally Dana herself did some Batman-related work in her career. Curtis sure have delusions of grandeur now that he is the chief. Come to think of it now Kate (Jeri Ryan) firing as chief is somewhat reminiscent to when Jeri was in Shark when she lost reelection as D.A. something which also happened to Megan’s mother as a judge in Sympathy For The Devil. In fact in the lead-up to watching the Body of Proof at the beginning, I had thought by reading the character description of Kate that she did remind me of Jeri’s aforementioned Shark character and Kate’s firing as chief was certainly a confirmation of it. With one of the victims being revealed as an abusive father it was certainly hard not to feel that he deserved what he got and the episode certainly handled the issue of child abuse delicately. Upon seeing his brother Aaron, Greg called him a “son of a b…” Since they are brothers he is technically calling their mother a b…..!

Identity: Season 2, Episode 17. Like Dana, guest star Steven Culp is a Desperate Housewives alum but was on that show as a regular cast member at a separate period from when Dana was when a regular cast member but both had left as regulars long before it ended. They were both in the Desperate Housewives finale Finishing The Hat but had nothing to do with each other there. So unlike Desperate Housewives, Dana and Culp had scenes together with this Body of Proof episode. Ethan makes some Superman references. Perhaps not coincidental to the fact that Dana had voiced Lois Lane in a Superman animated series. Not bad murder mystery although a bit disappointed that the murderer was someone obvious from the start. Kate is back as chief and that is quite good.

Identity has Megan being given an accolade. Coincidentally the China Beach episode Warriors also starring Dana also has her character McMurphy being given an accolade.

Going Viral Part 1: Antepenultimate episode of season 2. Although I felt it coming it was still a shock seeing Dani being killed. Guest stars Luke Perry and Nick Stahl. The latter had played John Connor in Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines. No Terminators but the virus that has killed people including Dani is just as deadly. Kate accidentally got infected providing a good set-up for the cliffhanger.

Mark Valley has joined the cast of Body of Proof for season 3. He had previously worked with Dana before in the short-lived TV series Pasadena.

Going Viral Part 2: Penultimate episode of season 2. Good quick resolution to the cliffhanger. Overall a good resolution to the story and what a quick disposal of the villain.

Mind Games: Season 2 finale. Very good flashforward that begins this episode and it made me worry about Megan. Quite horrifying seeing the dead woman’s head being cut open only for her brain to be missing. Guest star Peter Stormare is back in prison as he was an inmate in the Prison Break TV series. Just like in Prison Break, Stormare also breaks out of prison in this Body of Proof episode. Megan even says about the Stormare character doing a prison break perhaps as an allusion to that TV series. The warden says that he has never seen a convict breaking out of a prison and then coming back in again. He obviously hasn’t seen Hogan’s Heroes. Very good ending to the episode and the season with Peter throwing Wilson Polley (Stormare) but not before Polley stabbed him leaving viewers to wonder whether he is going to survive from that stab wound. However this is Nicholas Bishop’s (Peter) last episode along with John Carroll Lynch (Morris) and Sonja Sohn (Sam). There was uncertainty about whether there was going to be a third season and it seems the third season was achieved by cutting the number of episodes with season 3 having 13 episodes in contrast to 20 for season 2 and the cutting off of the aforementioned cast members. While Bishop’s departure might mean a foregone conclusion that Peter is dead the third season might alternatively start off some considerable time after Mind Games with mention that Peter did survive and is living off somewhere else and never to be seen again.
